Late summer colour on Dartmoor

I was out with our local walking group visiting ten tors on Dartmoor.  We started at Haytor climbing up the steep hill in mist and light rain then down to Saddle Tor and Pil Tor.  The weather varied throughout the morning with mist blowing in and then lifting.

The colours of the heather and gorse flowers were striking and many photos were taken.  The sun broke through late afternoon and we strolled back down Haytor 9.5 miles later, having visited all ten tors, the remains of a medieval village, a woodland and the old quarry with its water filled lakes.

A very enjoyable day in amazing landscape.
