Up Close and Personal with Big Max
The bee is obviously having a moment with a large flower belonging to a pumpkin variety called Big Max.
TM read that pumpkins are best grown on top of a compost heap. (I have tried this, and knew what to expect, but it's always best to let him find out for himself..)
The plant reached out and smothered the box, and the next one, and the next one before flowering. So far we have one decent pumpkin, one runty one and some flowers that have left it far too late. And there's nowhere to put the composting materials.
On the plus side, I didn't have to bend down to get this picture! And the bee was having a lovely time.
