The Horticultural Show

September comes, and with it the annual village horticultural show. This is the most serious table - those straight beans, big pumpkins, round and red tomatoes!
I entered some of the flower classes (won two 3rds) just for the fun of it, of course. My extra photo shows a vase of brilliant sunflowers - they didn't win a prize card, but I thought they were wonderful!
There were cream teas to be eaten, and all the exhibits to be examined. The show covers two villages, and a great deal of social chit-chat went on.
A very traditional affair, and one that we hope will continue for many more years to come!
