TINY TUESDAY
Looks can certainly be deceiving. This little butternut squash looks quite big, but is in fact, only 2 inches long, but the flower on the end is enormous - about 8 inches across.
However, this is an improvement on last year when they didn’t amount to anything, so although we may not get a butternut squash big enough to use this year, we know now that they will grow - it’s back to the drawing board for Mr. HCB to see if he can do anything else to make the plants produce bigger squashes.
Whilst writing up my journal, I saw some birds on the bird feeders; we know that one is a Blue Tit, but we aren’t sure about the other one, although Mr. HCB thinks it may be a young Sparrow - I have sent a photograph to the man who runs the Swindon Birds and Wildlife Blog, so hope he may be able to tell us - although any Blipping bird watchers may know - so have put these in as extras.
It’s another grey day today and Mr. HCB is feeling a little under the weather, so not quite sure what we will do today - perhaps just chill out and read.

P.S. BowBelle is correct - our Birdman has confirmed the little bird with a seed in its mouth is a fledging Dunnock but says he has never seen one on a feeder - another first!
