Qu-ewe-ing

We were lucky to see yesterday's vista: we woke today with the view from our hotel room being only cloud. After a brief explore of the locality in the morning, we headed off in the direction of our next overnight stop in Cortina d'Ampezzo. For the next few days, our days are all about the exciting Alpine passes.

Heading out of Germany and back into Austria, we debated which route to take. We had been planning to take the highest road in Austria, the Großglockner Hochalpenstraße - but with low cloud we decided to take the more pedestrian main route round. However, but a small *ahem* miscalculation, we ended up on the Hochalpenstraße after all. One of the extras shows the conditions Annie was driving into. It was an awesome road despite the cloud, with many hairpin bends. The main blip shows some of the bends, along with some of the other "traffic". We'll definitely be back to see more of the vistas hidden to us today.

On our way out of Austria and into Italy, we noted that the Italians had ordered better weather their side. The sun came out, lighting up the hillsides beautifully (see other extra for the "3 peaks").

Just as we were relaxing into the sunny drive, a coolant warning light came on and we had to stop to top up. Coupled with the fact our heater packed up on day 1, it's a very similar experience to the classic Triumph car runs we do!

A lovely hotel in Cortina for the night, and an amazing dinner (made better once they'd sorted the sound system out from playing 2 different Rod Stewart songs at us simultaneously).

Thanks for all the lovely feedback on yesterday's blip.
