Aster, the September Birth Flower.
They come in a range of colours and belong to the sunflower family.
A Greek legend says that a Goddess named Asteria loved the stars but was sad they were in the sky and not on the earth. She was so distraught that she began to cry and each time a tear fell to the ground, an Aster grew in it's place. What a lovely story !
They are associated with Patience, Lasting Love and Feminine Energy.
Asters were burned and smoked in ancient times as a means of warding off negative energy and are also used to treat headaches, colds and muscle aches.
Thank you for all your nice comments, stars and hearts which got Evie on the popular page. Her parents were thrilled. I will catch up tomorrow as I have been to hospital for another eye test and am still a bit blurry eyed ! Luckily the left eye is good and the right with some degeneration is no worse. This flower is one of a bunch of pink and white asters I treated myself to. The white are still buds.
