Cincinnati Hebrew Union College
This is another hidden treasure within the city of Cincinnati, and is conveniently located down the street from the University of Cincinnati. The Cincinnati Hebrew Union College was founded in 1875 in order to educate Rabbi to practice Judaism and now boasts an extensive archive of Judaic texts and the Skirball Jewish History Museum. It was to my surprise that the Skirball Museum was home to several important Judaic artifacts and works of art. Rubin Zelicovicis 12 original lithographs depicting the lifestyle of the newly settled Palestine are housed within the museum and four of the pieces can be seen in the photo above. There are 250 sets of the 12 lithographs which have been copied form the originals by Rubin, however, the Skirball Museum has the only collection which contains all 12. This is not the only one of a kind in which the Skirball Museum houses. Perhaps the only bust of a Jewish Rabbi is housed with the Skirball Museum along with one of the Dead Sea Scroll Jar's. There are several other fascinating original artifacts which sheds light on Judaic History within the Skirball Museum. I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of Jewish History which is housed within the Skirball Museum and gained a great insight on Jewish history outside of the Holocaust.
