The Canal

A "passing" shot taken by G as we drove back home having both been at the hairdressers. We both needed haircuts, and Rosie did that, and then took the picture (see extra).

So... in keeping with Dubai's need to impress by way of crazy OTT projects... this is yet another one... essentially to extend the Creek which is an inflow of the Arabian Gulf and at the moment, ends in salt flats which attract migratory birds - mainly flamingos. But all that will change soon, as the waterway is extended to meet the Arabian Gulf again, thereby making several neighbourhoods of old Dubai (which is where we live) into an island! There you go...  

The picture is of the the canal being created, and is the section where it (almost) meets the sea again. Only about another 100m to go... I guess it makes sense to someone, and there is a real need for it.

15th anniversary of September 11th today. How clearly we still remember that awful day...

PPS. There was some more ant elimination done by G today. Several hours worth...
