Yurting: Day 3
Today was a short day, as we had to be out of there by noon. So we packed up while the girls played in the hammock. Then a picnic lunch on the beach and a quick walk in the woods before the long drive home.
I have decided that camping with kids isn't as hard as I thought. I didn't think I would have any fun at all, but I had lots. And it wasn't as much work as I thought either. Being in the yurt really helped, especially with B having to nap twice a day. And also being with another family who love camping, and having a playmate for T.
I realized how much I missed it, cooking and sleeping and hanging out in the trees like that. Having a few beers by the campfire at night. And most of all, I loved watching T's reaction to all of it. She thoroughly loved sleeping in a sleeping bag, PJs next to the campfire before bed, running around in the trees picking up twigs and playing with flashlights.
Next year we may even try it with just a tent... we'll see how it goes. Good times, all in all.
And that makes the official end of summer. What a summer it's been.
