Driving home from Helsinki, stop at a museum

Short stop at the Home Museum Elimäki when coming home from Helsinki today.

Wanted to check out the windmill that can be seen from the highway. And yes, it was worth seeing. Built from logs by a local mansion owner and used for making flour for decades. Some parts have been rebuilt but generally the building and the equipment were in good condition. You could expect someone just to come in and start using the grinding equipment.

The walls are covered with woodchips that have been used old days as roofing material. When you know how to install a wooden roof, you can expect it to last for decades (unless it catches fire and burns the whole building down).

There were several other old agricultural log houses like sauna, granary, shed, house for drying out the grain with fire, with tools and machines from the old days. Really interesting and worth seeing.

Untypically cold and windy day today, with temps down to 14 C at daytime. No, this is not the end of summer yet. It can't be.
