Sweet Potatoes

We were heading out to see CCN's Mum Nettie this afternoon and spotted a group of backpackers in a field.  They were all planting new sweet potato plants and were just about to knock off for the day.  This is a very common scene around Bundaberg.  It is one of the most productive fruit and vegetable producing areas in Australia.  As you can see from this image, the soil is just so rich.

This must be such back breaking work and I'm afraid I wouldn't last 10 minutes under these conditions.  We really do rely a lot on the young backpackers working their way around Australia, particularly in this part of the world.

Thanks to everyone for their best wishes for Nettie.  She was absolutely delighted when I read the very heartfelt comments from blippers from all corners of the globe.  Now I'm under pressure to produce a set of images from yesterday so that Nettie can have a little brag book in her room to share with her friends.
