Visionaries & Voices

Visionaries and Voices is a nonprofit organization that provides disabled people the chance to become artists. They are able to do many different types of art such as: painting, sculpting, ceramics, drawing, crochet,  making dolls, and anything else you could imagine. As you can see in the pictures, they get very creative with what they use to make their art. They use objects such as rocks, pine cones, wood, and even skateboards, and go over them with many layers of paint to create an abstract sculpture. Most of the artists sell their work at their exhibits, however some get very attached to their work and like to keep it for themselves.

In the lobby is a gallery made by drawings from Nikki Martin, who is very interested in fashion design. They usually rotate the gallery every other month with different artists.

The thing I most enjoyed about Visionaries and Voices is how everybody comes in with a different vision and creates a unique story behind every work of art. People tend to only focus on someones disability and they underestimate the amount of creativity and talent they have. So it was very cool to be able to see the insane art they were able to make.
