Pine wood
We did some painting in the morning and then set off with rucksacks and the two dogs and what a fabulous walk we had. We started at the edge of Loch Morlich, which lies at the foothills of the Cairngorm range of hills. A mile in and we headed into the hills through densely forested areas where blaeberries and cranberries were lurking invitingly within reach and so we happily partook of plenty of vitamins along the way! I chose this shot, among many, as it shows the terrain we were walking through with Cairngorm and its ski trails seen behind the tall scots pines, and in the foreground cranberry and blaeberry bushes along with heather which is very nearly fully out.
The path took us very close to the base of the awesome cairngorm range before we turned to return but then we actually got lost and found ourselves in a fenced off Reindeer national park where the path became a deep bog and there were signs saying Beware of the Bulls! We tried to retrace our steps, found another path, and then that one too petered out. By the time we finally reached the car we had been out for just over four hours - tired but having had a super day out and we had picked enough blaeberries to enjoy for our supper.
edit :- It now seems that we didn't see cranberries , but cowberries ( or whortleberries). Thanks to AJTaylor.
