Market Street on a Saturday evening

I had a great day out in Jersey yesterday. Flight was on time and we were met at the airport and taken to a lovely cafe close to St John's Church where we had breakfast. I had a huge helping of scrambled egg with smoked salmon and a mug of coffee; I didn't eat another thing all day until I was on the boat going home in the evening.

Plenty of ringing and even more chatting and I took quite a few photographs. We got a lift down to town in good time for a quick drink in The Lamplighter before making our way to the ferry terminal. Sadly The Lamplighter is all electric now but when I went in there about 20 years ago after my first ringing meeting in Jersey they had gas mantles instead of electric lights.

The Clipper got off early and there didn't seem to be many on board; certainly not in the restaurant. A veggie curry and a glass of wine went down really well. There were 4 of us sitting together so plenty more chatting and putting the world to rights on the way across to Guernsey. The Elizabeth College boys plus one young girl were also on the boat along with two teachers. They started full of life out on deck in the wind but gradually the excitement of the day's ringing plus their afternoon visit to an adventure centre took its toll and there were a lot of sleeping bodies around the place by the time we got to Guernsey...

We docked just after 9 o'clock in the evening and I walked home snapping night shots all the way. I think this one of Market Street was my favourite...
