The whale-watchers

The humpback whales that have been feeding along Newburgh beach are still with us and attracting photographers with big, big lenses. Sadly they didn't turn up this afternoon, but Ron Macdonald, the man in the photograph, took a stunning photograph of one breaching a couple of days ago.
The ships are offshore supply vessels at anchor in Aberdeen Bay, waiting for business, a sign of the downturn in the oil industry.
