Snowy Sports Ground

Some of you will remember that we visited this Sports Ground as part of my "Glimpses of Blackheath" series. Well here is a different view of the place with a shallow covering of snow.

We don't get much snow in the Blue Mountains. In fact we rarely get more than two or three light falls per winter, here at Blackheath. Local "old timers" can remember that the district used to receive much MORE snow more OFTEN in times of yore. Is this evidence of global warming? I don't suppose anyone really knows.

In any event, snow for us is rarely a nuisance aside from a few hours (here and there) of black ice on the roads. In fact it's considered something of a novelty. This must bring howls of ironic laughter from people for whom regular and repeated snow falls are a genuine winter nuisance and hazard.
