Mary - beached in 1958

She now lies protecting the bank in the Old Dock at Sharpness - built by  H.E. Stephens and C. George at Devroran in 1875 she was only 9 foot longer than my narrow boat at 49.3 feet but three times wider at 17.5 feet.  There was a wonderful lot of lot of old branches in the water too -  see my extra - and I picked lots of blackberries.  The plantation beyond used to have many unusual trees and shrubs which were brought back from travels abroad by an early Lord Berkeley. - they have been demolished  along with the house a later Lord had where he entertained his lady friends away from the castle.  Edward V11 joined him and reputedly Lily Langtry was accommodated a little further up the Sharpness canal in the Berkeley Arms
