The Good Shepard
Had a lovely walk with 2 good friends in a different neighborhood today…our destination was lunch at the Senior Center in this building. My what a different feel to the neighborhood where people are fixing up their single family dwellings and there are gorgeous yards, and very little of those boxes we are seeing in our neighborhood. Still not affordable however for young families.
The Good Shepard Center was built in 1906 to house, support, and train young women, it closed in 1973 and was bought by the city of Seattle to use as a community center. It’s a beautiful Italianate building on the national historic register and has a wonderful Seattle Tilth organic garden/P Patch outside providing food for food banks. In the 70s I took art classes there before going to the UW. It was fun to go there and give a bit of support to the senior center so they can keep going...
Extra is my friend's cat..just seeing if I can actually post an extra picture..
well that worked so I've also put the "Kehinde Wiley portrait" project from yesterday on here.
