The Blue Lagoon

( Yep, we had to do it.. :-). Glad we did). Raining good today so we spent the morning at the excellent national museum..so many fine Viking and Icelandic artifacts and their most excellent cafe with the best double latte that saved the day as we didn't sleep well last night. It was clear sky last night so I kept looking out the window for the aurora borealis but NOT in my view. Tonight we are staying near the blue lagoon ( close to the airport) where the view would be dark and fabulous! (They saw it last night). But it's raining and you can appreciate the sky in the photo...Even so, I signed up to be called in the middle of the night if a miracle happens! ( this hotel is called Northern Light Inn!). Excellent dinner looking out at lava fields and the hydro thermal plant.

The Blue Lagoon? An amazing experience. It's HUGE and they are expanding! We managed 45 minutes in the hot water...even tried the silica mud mask :-) I'm sure I must look younger! there is a spa and restaurants, gift shop, paths, .. we just did the very basic...didn't even have a drink ( that's the bar on the right). It's 10x as big as you can see here but I chose this after we came out ( couldn't figure out how to have a camera in the pool) because you can see the steam from the electric plant nearby. Lots more viking art, blue water and black lava with moss from the day but will wait for a Flickr album .... too much for me tonight....we're out of here at 5 AM for part 2 of this adventure!
