Debatable Lands

At Smailholm Tower en route to a recce for Sunday.

Smailholm Tower stood guard, high above magnificent horizons, over the lands of the Reivers.   The young Sir Walter Scott was sent to convalesce with his grandparents at a farm just below.    The impact of the tower and the vistas - and the tales from local people -shaped the stories that he told through verse and prose.

It's a gem of Historic Scotland!
