Fireweed
An idea blatently & unashamedly stolen from middleman's 'Epilobium Period', though this one is actually Rosebay Willowherb (Chamerion angustifolium), so not an Epilobium at all (but still a Willowherb, obviously...)
The day was rather de-railed late morning when I wandered outside at around 11.30am to do bit of 'farming', after a lengthy spell of 'admin' in my 'office' (well, faffing around on the PC to be brutally honest...) Confronted by 11 of our neighbour's hefty black Aberdeen Angus bullocks & heifers that had broken through the hedge/fence & were cavorting around the holding. Plenty of damage to our trees, and plenty of those squidgy brown piles they seem to like to leave. Anyway, S took charge as I was rather too angry to engage sensibly with the situation, and eventually neighbour arrived to herd them back across the hedge/fence to his ground.
Late afternoon took a rather unusual turn when I found a tiny Pipistrelle Bat attached to my welly when I went to put it on. Pic in 'Extras'. Managed to tuck the little fella back between the stone & woodwork of our back porch, which is quite possibly illegal if one hasn't got a bat license!
Also an 'Extra' of some rather groovy vapour trails, which is all a bit weird really as we don't get too many aircraft round our way. Perhaps the result of a dogfight, from all them hounds down among the trees below...
