New Beginnings

The tiny new leaves are just emerging on my Silver birch trees and I love the freshness of the green.

I got a big surprise when I zoomed in on the photo, to see lots of very, very tiny insects on the emerging leaves - some sort of aphid I suppose. If you peer closely you may spot them. It may go a long way towards explaining why the silver birches had so many Blue Steel ladybirds on them last summer.
