I Love A Parade

No secret to those who have followed me, but I am drawn to parades of all kinds. We left our humble abode this morning to find a huge gathering of folks in the neighboring square. La Mercé was once again gathering steam and today's activities looked to be around the Gigantes (large paper maché figures that the locals parade through town). We were on a mission to meet up with Barrioboy and his lovely wife DigitalDaze, so hurried by without stopping to photograph. Thanks to them both for hosting us and sharing their lives. Too short a visit, hopefully to be continued some day in the future.

Of course, this being Barcelona the party was still on as we returned to our home that evening. This is the scene in front of our place (the red door) at 19:30 when we finally got back. Notice the drummer leading the gigante and restaurant diners on the right - nothing but noise and excitement throughout our little square. It was an early night, as we were to get up at 3:00 am for our early morning flight to Crete, but sleep was elusive as the party raged on outside our door.
