Jayhawk
Today we walked up to the University (KU) to meet Mary Ann, W's old colleague, who still works there in the Research Library. If anyone ever tells you Kansas is flat, don't believe them; while most of it is, the University was built on the top of a hill in Lawrence and is quite a steep walk up. An interesting day looking at places W used to work and meeting curators who are now working on the archive that W initially catalogued in the 80's. Mary Ann is also in charge of the store that contains several Jayhawk costumes, the mythical bird that is the mascot of all the sports teams at KU. I rather liked the bag labelled 'Old body parts'!
I've added an extra of Massachusetts Avenue in Lawrence taken this morning. This was used in a shocking film in the 70's, The Day After, about a nuclear attack on the USA which many people of a certain age may remember. Thankfully, it has survived unscathed.
