A tent, a bike and an axe......happiness
Our campsite. A's tent, bikes ready to go, firewood ready. What more could we need? Day one was great. From our campsite there is a track along....and through (we had to take our shoes off and wade) a creek for the 2 km into town. Unfortunately the bike shop is closed on Tuesday's (and most of the rest of town too it seemed). We went through an amazing museum and then the boys took to the mountain bike tracks. They enjoyed it even though A was riding R's BMX, came off and had to come back to be bandaged and have a huge splinter removed. Then back to it this time on C's mountain bike at least. We walked over the old swing bridge which has been used since the early 1900's. It's a bit like the story of Grandfather's axe - every bit has been replaced more than once but it's still Grandfather's axe. Then we walked a short way up the hills towards Mt Remarkable. Another night around the campfire wondering if the night will bring the expected stormy weather.
