Diary of an Edinburgher

Out for lunch

Camila came to take Archie out for the day. I rather liked this furry whirlwind shot. What a lucky boy - he's had a friend come to take him out almost every day this week.

Being doggie-less, and my brother postponing a lunch rendezvous, we decided to go for lunch to a local new(ish) restaurant. And we needed to buy 15 metres of pulley rope at our wee hardware shop that sells everything. I will work up to the tricky task of re-hanging the pulley...

The restaurant, which we've been meaning to go to for ages, was excellent. The first thing to note as we came in was the quiet jazz music. So far, so good. A very good menu, a special lunch deal with plenty of choice. And the coffee was good.

I was tapped on the shoulder, and greeted as 'Archie's mum'. It turns out that the owner of the restaurant is someone I used to meet regularly while out dog walking. So that's why I don't see her around any more - she's rather busy! Her dog, Maggie, came out from the office to see us. We'll need to organise to meet up and have a chat about being restaurateurs (we've been there, done that many moons ago) but also to arrange to take Maggie when we go up the hill. But it will need to fit in with Archie's busy timetable...

Bird station news: The sparrows come and go all day, in flocks. Some of them even had a wee peck at the suet. A starling came and had a good go at the suet too, and a magpie contented himself with the spilled seeds on the shed roof. I must try to get an action photo, but that may involve cleaning the windows.
