An ordinary life....

On the Last Day of September...

Time is passing so quickly I can literally feel it hurtling past me.

Honestly, if I sit still for long enough, I am sure I can feel the whoosh of the minutes and seconds as the future becomes the present then in an instant, becomes the past.   So much to do and so little time.  Not helped by the fact on Facebook this morning someone had posted the helpful fact that there's only 12 Mondays between now and Christmas!   My stomach flipped a little on reading that.  Normally I would be the annoying git posting such info so I suppose it serves me right.

The plumber was in the  kitchen this morning drilling a hole through the outside wall so he could relocate the outside tap.  Oh dear heavens those drills make some noise.   Being a Victorian house, the walls are very thick so I think he may have gone through more than one drill bit.

We had our 4th Progress Meeting with the architect, QS and builder.  All positive.  There's been a few delays with things but nothing major so hopefully any over run will be minimal or non existent if they manage to catch up.   We need to get our finger out and get floor tiles for the kitchen and garden room, and wet room/changing room chosen ASAP.   That will be tomorrow's job then.

They got a fair bit done today.  The pool windows are in and our new back door is on.  I've not seen them yet as after the meeting I got caught up in the Ryder Cup.  C'mon Europe!  :-))

Got two emails this evening that caused different reactions.  One from Helen, the kitchen designer, inviting us to a Learn & Lunch at their Glasgow studio in November, with a chef from Martin Wishart.  It sounds good and D is hoping to be on annual leave that week so hopefully we can take up the invitation.

The second email was a beautifully worded email from Alan's support worker Ed, informing us of his intention to retire in March.  Whilst we knew this was inevitable, he's become such an integral part of the team and our family, it's hard to imagine him not being around.  I am hopeful though that he will make the transition from support worker to friend, as we are all very fond of him, Alan especially (see extra.)

No time for photos today other than trying to grab some "before" shots of areas that will be changing very soon.   The clear out of the kitchen starts on Sunday with us looking out and separating the stuff we will need during the time the kitchen is a no-go area.  The rest will be packed up by the professionals on Monday.

I have a bottle of Tanqueray at the ready ;-)
