Back From Sabbatical

We have a friend who is an Economics Professor at Portland State University. He invited us for dinner as we were in Portland today. This is a view into his living room and kitchen. 

He has spent twenty five years studying the economy of Viet Nam. At different times over these years he has lived in Viet Nam for extended periods of time. 

Recently he returned from a yearlong sabbatical that included time in Viet Nam, France, Spain, Turkey and other European countries.  During his sabbatical he developed educational partnerships with other universities to allow students in these countries to come to America and complete their last two years of studies in Oregon at Portland State University.

We met him several years ago when he bought property near us in the Gorge. Then we learned that we both lived in almost in the same neighborhood in Portland! It was wonderful to catch up with him and learn about his travels.
