Day 9 of the Dales High Way, from Newbiggin-on-Lune to Appleby.

We stayed overnight in Brownber Country House Hotel; accommodation was fine for the whole holiday, but this was much the best.

The final day of walking was more gentle than most, with little climbing. Scenically, the highlight was probably Rutter Force (see extra photo). There was a possibility of rain at the end of the day, but we reached Appleby without a drop - we'd had nine days of walking without any rain at all during the daytime. Remarkable!
