Egyptian Museum, Turin
We visited the museum today--it is considered one of the very best in the world and it surpassed our expectations. The exhibits are very extensive, wonderfully displayed, with detailed captions--virtually all in Italian and English. The audio guide was free, a welcome supplement to the captioning on the relatively few items it covered. The woman on the left is Merit, the wife of the royal architect Kha (active ca. 1450-1400 BC in Deir el-Medina). In the late afternoon, despite a railroad strike, we managed to take a train to meet our friends Christina and Alberto, with whom we are spending the weekend. Posted late next day.
