Late Lupin

This high pressure sitting over mid Sweden is giving us fantastic weather with warm days, but the clear skies also bring cold weather. This morning there was a heavy ground frost, which tends to put an end to many of the flowers.
Most of the lupins have bloomed in June/July, seeded in July/August and died in September, but there are always a few that bloom for the second time, holding out against the frost and providing a little food for the last of the bees.
Lupins grow very well in most of Sweden, all too well in fact. They are often found along the roads and in other waste land areas and in some areas are taking over from the native flora.
Another walk today, continuing our program to keep the fitness we gained with all the walking in Portugal, and to hopefully lose a little weight after all the eating in the same country!
