Went to the magnificent Botanical Gardens this morning in Singapore.

The orchids particularly.... They name new orchids after famous visitors. The first two I saw were Laura Bush and Margaret Thatcher. So moving swiftly on I came to the carnivorous plants.

This is a pitcher plant! An insect is attracted by sweet smells, and once it enters it can't get back out - the walls are too waxy. It eventually is drowned in fluid, and then digested by powerful enzymes...
