Mono : Roots
Took Mum and Dad for lunch to The Bull at Watson at Stone. Lovely pub.
Late afternoon we two decided, as it was a glorious day, that we needed a walk. So we travelled nearby to Knebworth Park.
Mono Monday's theme is roots, so this blip has two meanings:
* there are some lovely ancient sweet chestnuts near House and Church. With some striking root features. We disturbed a little owl as we approached them - a bird I haven't seen in ages
* Knebworth Park lies on the edge of the town I grew up in. It is a long, long time since I left. I can remember walking here on a very sunny day when I was revising for my A levels, and sitting In a deep grassy hollow reading a book. I suddenly heard a noise, and looking up a huge stag with a very impressive set of antlers was facing me. I wasn't too sure of the next move at the time, but after a momentary stand off he turned and walked away. Something etched on the memory from all those years ago.
