Diary of an Edinburgher

By LadyMarchmont

A bird!

Annemique came to collect Archie for the day at 10:30. He wasn't back till after 5pm, having had a great time in the Hermitage, back at A's flat, then the Meadows. In fact, he came back with an extra friend, looking quite pleased with himself.

I spent the morning bird watching, with slightly more success than of late. And I did shoo away the swarm of starlings. Sorry, guys.

A couple of friends came round in the afternoon - ex colleagues - so school stories were enjoyed. In fact, one of them has retirement on the horizon, so we had happy conversations about that delightful state - holidays when everyone else is in school, lie ins, nobody hassling you for workplans (the bane of my entire teaching life).

JR had made a cake, and it was gone in record time. Archie's two friends came in with him and had a piece each, and JR and I finished off the last few crumbs.
