faffing on a sunny afternoon

I recently took out a subscription to The Luminous Landscape (well worth the $1.00/month asking price) and came across an article about how Ansel Adams manipulated his images (faffed) to create ‘strong graphic compositions by selectively darkening parts … to create dynamic balances between dark and light areas'.   Over time  '...his skies got darker ...’

I’ve always been a fan of Ansel Adams and when I spotted the white cloud above this building I just had to darken the sky.  For those who are interested, I used Nik Silver Efex  with a red filter.  For those who are not really interested I still used Nik Silver Efex with a red filter.
