DON'T Stem Education for Kids
Stumbled past this banner as I walked home after a late lunch after work. Work seems to be more than I can handle this past few weeks, yet somehow I'm convinced it's because I'm not managing my time optimally at the office. Will look into this tomorrow.
Education is big business here, in Malaysia; parents commonly send children for tuition (privately run classes) for every subject they already are learning in school. I recall a classmate in standard 6 who told me she was attending 2 separate tuition classes for Math. These classes aren't to coach weaker students, mind you, but to get a leg up on the competition. The education culture here has started to become noisome, I fear the tuition culture of 2 decades ago has become a harbinger to a deranged standard and practice that will eventually harm children and run counter to the ideals of education. I imagine La Salle is already turning in his grave.
Yoga was challenging today, which is a relief.
I should work on the proposal for this project grant. But I choose to watch Thunderbirds and eat Popcorners instead. I know I'll pay for this tomorrow...but this Thunderbirds revival is really good.
