Season of mists...

Autumn has definitely arrived.  Its first stealthy move was on 12 Sept when  month after month of 35c dropped suddenly to days of 25c.  Its second move came yesterday with another step change, now we are in the high teens, days are noticeably shorter and the air has a distinct chill come 4 o'clock in the evening.  Time for clearing up the garden ready for the winter migration back to north east Ireland. Today we finished painting the outside bathroom wall and the rear garden gate.  In the afternoon we cut the big laurel hedge.  Just the unruly fir at the bottom of the garden to do.  And we have been lighting the fire, a sure sign that summer has definitely gone.
