The Aylesbury Duck

or that's what I thought when I saw them yesterday at Haddenham duck pond. Having read some stuff online it would appear that the ducks at Haddenham are in fact Pekin Ducks which were introduced from China in Victorian times. The main difference between a Pekin & an Aylesbury is the colour of the beak. The Aylesbury should have a pinkish beak whereas the Pekin is orange. Apparently there may only be one flock of pure breed Aylesburys left in the country & that is located at Chesham about 8 miles S of Aylesbury.

I bet you didn't know that Jemima Puddle-duck is an Aylesbury duck who lives in Cumbria.

If you want to be bored silly & read more about the Aylesbury duck quack on the link below:

A quieter day today went to the supermarket to get a few essentials then home for lunch then out to collect Mum who stayed for a cuppa & a chat before leaving for home - she bought us some Scrumpy Cider which I may test later ...

Cool fine day after a damp start
