Rugby in the rain
Gavin and I went on an organised walk this morning, it was 6.5 miles along the Weald of Kent. It was a lovely day, and we only had a few drops of rain when we were in the woods so it did not matter as we did not get wet. We finished at a pub and then had a quick lunch before going on to watch Thomas' rugby match.
Thomas has been working hard at his strength training in the gym and it has paid off with his rugby. Two years ago when he started senior school he played in the U14E rugby team but this year he has been promoted to the U16B team and he is now playing 8th man. Today he played so well, he scored a brilliant try, where he pushed through the opposing pack all the way from the 25 yard line to touch down and score the try.
The match started in sunshine but soon the black clouds rolled in and most of the second half was played in rain. Thomas had to be my blip today, and here he is at the back of the scrum (neon yellow boots) in 8th man position. The better sports photo was of this hand-off, as seen in the extras, but I felt Thomas deserved spotlight today! When he came off the pitch at the end of the match his rugby clothes certainly looked as if he had played a hard match - mud and blood everywhere (he had a nose bleed and received a small cut above his eye) but he was on top form.
A quiet night in, Thomas is relaxing after his hard match and after I walked 19,900 steps today I am also ready to sit on the sofa and watch TV.
