Off out for a road cycle this morning for the first time in way too long (i.e. since the Etape); just too much other stuff going on. It all started well: met Ally at 9:30, headed east to and beyond Newburgh and aiming for St. Andrews. And then...

*ping* *clackclackclackclack*

A broken rear spoke. Unfortunately the wheels are a wee bit fancier than normal and have a quite low spoke count so the spoke tension is quite high and when one goes ping you get a hefty buckle. The spokes are also straight pull aero which means a replacement is £4/spoke. £4/spoke! Okay, it's not that expensive (in comparison to a new wheel) but seriously Shimano... that's like 10x the cost of a regular double butted spoke.

Hobbled home after a meager 20 miles.

Spent the afternoon doing stuff around the house and garden, the childen ran wild.
