The river Avon at Stratford.

Good night's party, bad night's sleep! Clearly I hadn't had enough alcohol. Anyway, finally dropped off about 4 a.m. and woke about 9ish.

After breakfast we walked over to the venue of the previous night to collect the car, and then decided it was too nice to be driving on the motorway, so we took the scenic route home, via Morton-in-Marsh and then Stratford.

Probably should be blipping the more tradition shots of the town, with the black and white half timber Elizabethan type buildings, but we shall be going back, so there's plenty of time for that.

This stretch of the Avon, running behind the Royal Shakespeare Theatre, is well used by various boating activities. There has been a theatre on this plot of land since the 1870's, the present one having been built in the late 1920's/ early '30's. Opened in 1932, it must surely have the rare distinction of having been opened by King Edward VIII, during his short reign, before he felt compelled to abdicate.
