Prix Bayeux Calvados
Left our BnB after a long breakfast. Dominique gave us a huge bag of apples from her trees, some homemade jam, and some home baked cake. She's been great to chat to, and we've loved staying at her farm.
En route to Caen and the ferry we called in at Bayeux, for a walk along the River Aure. Saw our first kingfisher of the trip.
Everywhere in town large photos are hung over the old buildings. It has been a week long event for war correspondents. With prizes in various categories. The BBC's Jeremy Bowen won the Radio prize. This photo banner was hanging on the side of the Cathedral. It faces a massive plane tree planted in 1797 during the French Revolution - the "Liberty Tree". These frightened girls could do with a bit of that.
We are entering Portsmouth harbour, so a 4G signal is letting me upload before we move on. We've really enjoyed Normandy. Now we have returned to Blighty
