Rhapsody In Bloom, Flowerpower Yarnbomb.

As I walked across Jesus Green, I noticed a mass of flowers on the wire fence surrounding the tennis courts. A notice said....'This Yarnbomb has been made by the knitters and  crocheters  of Cambridge and beyond to bring to the public gaze the fact that one in five women are indecently and often violently assaulted in their lifetime. One in five of the flowers are blue rather than purple, dotted amongst the others, just as are the survivors in society. Later in the year, the flowers will be sold in aid of the Women's Crisis Aid Group.' (The notice actually gave more details.) When I first saw these flowers, I didn't realise they were in aid of something so serious, as students often adorn trees, lampposts and railings with their colourful knitted efforts. The extra is a closer look at the flowers.
