Made in England
Yesterday I spent some time in Borås Textile Museum. They had an interesting and colourful permanent exhibition, a temporary exhibition "Embroidery on Knits", by Britt-Marie Christoffersson (see extra) and a mocked up mill with many carding, spinning and weaving machines used in the textile industry here until that industry collapsed, around the same time as in the UK.
None of those machines were made in Sweden. The earlier machines came from England and Germany, and later Switzerland got in on the act with some very technical and complex weaving machines. The only Swedish machines were sewing machines (Husqvana).
It turns out that HarlingDarling's uncles Frank and Walter worked for Howard and Bullough in Accrington so there is a family connection...
