Boise's Best!
I'm backblipping our last day in Boise, which was completely delightful! We began with a visit to the Idaho Fish and Game MK Nature Center, located along the Boise River Greenbelt. We were among the first folks there, and relished the opportunity to explore the wonderful displays inside (see extra) and the trails that led to close-up viewing of fish, wood ducks, and other natural wonders.
The delight we'd experienced there fortified us for our visit to the Idaho Anne Frank Human Rights Memorial, the only Anne Frank Memorial in the United States, located next to Boise's Main Library. There's a life-sized bronze statue of Anne Frank peering out of an open window, her diary clasped in one hand, in the park, and more than 60 quotations from humanitarian leaders around the world and various time periods. The full text of the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights is among those quotations; the world is still very far from implementing them, as you'll see if you read the text. I couldn't help thinking what a positive effect it would have on our country and beyond if more cities had displays like this one in their public parks.
After an early dinner at Bittercreek Alehouse -- our second visit in two days, as their food and beer are very appealing -- we couldn't resist the siren call of the nearby "Freak Alley Gallery," where I took today's blip, along with many other images, smiling nonstop at the creativity and artistry all around me. You can see a little more of this unusual art setting in Phil's blip.
(If the forecasted high winds and rains don't knock our power out, I'll add a couple more images from this unusual gallery to my next blip. Stay tuned...)
