A leisurely drive to nearby Llangollen today, supposedly for a quick whirl around the 'Thomas the Tank Engine Day Out'. We ended up spending pretty much the entire day there, but from the look of things most of the other families were similarly entrapped. At the risk of sounding like some kind of Thomas aficionado, there was not quite as much for the children to do as with the Bo'ness version, although still more than enough to tire them out.
Amongst Thomas' helpers were balloons-in-the-shape-of-a-train makers and Thomas-character face painters. Our daughter and little boy had their surprisingly steady forearms painted with Emily and Percy, respectively. They were well pleased with the artwork, but you'll have to look really carefully to see the difference between the two interpretations...
Nadia here was one of the face painters. Since she was so obliging, the main challenge with this portrait was getting the flash lighting right, and to do so before the next child with limited patience barged in asking to be covered in Thomas characters.
