Quite a feast

I was at a friend's today for lunch. The food put down on the table was a "spread." It was wonderful. It got me thinking of times gone past.

This was the norm when I was young in the 1970s. Working class folk had a sense of pride around putting out a spread for relatives visiting. you would have salmon sandwiches, scones, and a range of cakes. And everyone had a speciality. My granny made "rough" but tasty baking and my Aunt Mary was a neat baker - making the best apple pies ever.

Simpler times.

Weather: cloudy; 12 degrees c; jacket weather; lovely day.
