Being a tourist in your own garden
I enjoyed a surprise a visit this afternoon from Forrest, and Sarah, who he has been hosting in Leeds for a few days, the daughter of my oldest and bestest friend Dave, originally of Cheltenham but for half a lifetime now from Rotorua in New Zealand. I last saw Sarah when she was just eleven years old. She's grown into a delightful and engaging young woman. The oddest thing is that she shares the exact same facial mannerisms as her dad. I kept being thrown back thirty odd years!
PS I may be withering in some respects, but I'm flourishing in others. I suddenly seem to have grown taller than my eldest son. It's not a feeling I've enjoyed since about the last time I saw Sarah!
