entry point to nerd-dom
Being a hippy-dippy thinker when it comes to child-rearing (and pig-rearing, for that matter) I've always thought that children are better off playing with sticks and mud than spending time inside looking at screens. Which is why my poor, disadvantaged children have been forced to spend time outside, have had no TV and had their screen time limited compared to other children. But when considers that we have outside, mud and sticks in copious quantities, no TV reception and I hog the computer because I am "always on Facebook*", you can see there is another story underlying my fancy ideas. Or something.
Anyway, this one is a Grade A, straight out of Geek School, the mould wasn't broken and they used the same one for her, 100% geek-nerd, just like many other members of her family. And now a change of schools (today was first day!) means that she has her own laptop and an internet connection in her new bedroom.......hopefully she'll have the Pentagon hacked by the end of the week. That's how it works in films, isn't it? And when the zombie alien invasion comes she'll save the human race by knowing the password!! If she can remember it.....I foresee great things ahead. She can already fiddle with a pen like the nerdy guy in Goldeneye, so at least everything will blow up just before the baddies round us all up. Yes.
*a myth - if I am always on Facebook, who the hell is doing the other stuff and why am I so knackered?
