Late Arrival
Some come late to the party,
none fanfares their arrival,
with those who blossomed earlier
intent on plain survival.
They're older, greyer, tireder,
and they, to tell the truth,
can find no time or energy
to trumpet others' youth.
Their flagging is a foil
to the newcomer's vim.
Some come late to the party:
enjoy their solo hymn.
